I thought here I would leave a handy list of VW friendly campsites we love to stay at…. I’m not going to put any we’ve not enjoyed!
Strawberry Fields – Near Romsey
What we were after was a big field, where we could have a small camp fire, the kids could roam about and we could see the stars… and this site didn’t disappoint. For a quick night away it does the trick… and the absolute best bit was that the lovely owners deliver breakfast to your tent in the morning if you order the night before.

Folly Farm – Near Winchester

This site is a real favourite of ours. Less than 40 minutes from our front door, Folly farm offers basic facilities with a friendly welcome. The owners are happy to sell you their fresh farm eggs and if you are lucky Rosemary might have baked some merangues on sale or a nice jar of jam. There are only a handful of pitches in a large enclose field with a beautiful enclosed woods at the bottom. We have even been allowed to dig out some turf and have a small campfire as long as we were able to put it back to how it was before.
Close by there are lots of walks and West Wood at Farley Mount is a huge hit with the Scamps for passing hours on the hidden play equipment.
What more could you ask for?

Saint Benoit des ondes – amazing seafood resturants all around

Rennes – How Municipal camping should be done!

Sille – Forrest camping, lakeside, beautiful nature camping with a beach by the lake

Nantes – We never actually stayed here but planned to, went and looked and looks great, ideal to visit the nantes elephant.

Noirmoutier – a must visit busy site, right on the beach. Very small pitches but once you get used to it, simply breathtaking!

Ile de Re – A well located site for saint martin de re…. beautiful place, but a you need to have a wash and do your makeup to go for an ice cream here! 16 euro toll to get onto the island

Saint Christoly de Blaye – A random site, close to a lake with beach, vineyards to visit and a lovely swimming pool. No english spoken here and in deepest france, but a nice site and would go back! Would benefit from a little TLC.

Saint Laurent Medoc – Wonderful site in the wine region…. great pool, park etc, and literally surrounded by miles and miles of vineyards.
Pyla, Archacon – Well, amazing location, small pitches, noisy and a little disappointing in the toilet front…. however worth all that, to camp at the bottom of Europe’s highest sand dune… simply an awesome sight. Expensive though!

Messanges, a lovely little site, slightly away from the center of things, making a much more affordable stay… just missing a pool.
Alternative site to try in this area would be this one, slightly closer, slightly bigger, with a pool but slightly more expensive.

Campsites for 2016
Laredo – Spain
Campsite about an hour from Santander between there and Bilbao. Nice beaches but ugly architecture… cheap wine in the shop… small pitches and clean toilets!
Messanges- nearish Biarritz
Quiet site near great beaches, good pool, close to other sites with bars and entertainment, but none on site. I love it here
Archachon
Interesting site… not sure i’d recomend, however limited choice in this area if you want to stay less than a week. Clean loo’s and onsite shop but full of groups of teenagers, tiny pitches and very noisey. That said Archachon itself is beautiful and full of beautiful people so great as a stop over.

Saint Laurent Medoc
Nice little site in the wine region…. great pool, park etc, and literally surrounded by miles and miles of vineyards. Not much to do apart from wine tasting and swimming in the pool…. but if thats what you like its great.
We visited this vine yard and they spoke super english and gave a fab tour
Soulac – Amalie Plage
A very basic, clean and welcoming campsite with loads of space, 800 meters from a lovely beach, resturants and shops. Surrounded by great cyclepaths and pleanty to do.
