Another quite relaxing day…. after making ourselves get out of bed by 10, we went and got bread for breakfast. The children got watches before we came away on holiday as i thought that it would be a good way for them to gain a little independence, and be able to play in the park with a time limit. Its worked really well all holiday, and this morning proved the motivation required to get the children dressed and sun creamed up so that we could get out. They had seemingly arranged to meet their gang in the park at 10:30 so following breakfast they were ready in super quick time.
We were critically low on food supplies… unless anyone fancied the tin of ravioli or corned beer that i always take on holiday we were done for. We headed into town with the objective of having a shorter ride than the 20 KM we travelled the other day… and avoiding the heat of the day! both successfully failed! Our 20KM bike ride this time took us to the marina on noirmoutier… were the children thought that we could hire jet ski’s!! I told them about the story of when daddy made me hire one at uncle Gordons wedding and they still wanted to hire one…. so i gave them some sweets instead! There wasn’t a lot else in the marina, so we headed back via the supermarket to get some lunch. Then we found a salt seller, and learnt how they make the product of the region… normoutier salt.
We got back and had a bit of a chill out before heading to the beach for a play in the sea. After the beach, stew and I had a little look at the internet to work out where to go next. The weather is not looking good for the next few days so we were trying to make a plan of somewhere to end our holiday. We are still undecided!
A seafood feast was our dinner, with scallops, oysters, squid, smoked and non smoked salmon and prawns…. stew declared it the best bbq Colin the bbq had ever provided!!
It was a very warm evening and so we sat out late. Another perfect french day for us!
